hour long class + a Pint of beer + charity

This is more than yoga, and more than a delicious pint of beer.

Family. Two of the three owners  of the brewery (Matt Z and Jeremy) are my brother-in-laws. My sister is there most weekends practicing yoga alongside you. And while my sweet dad, Norbert, won't likely be joining us for savasana, he has made much of the kid furniture and the wooden paddles to serve you a beer flight. One of my cousins is working behind the bar..another one does the design work for Lake Monster. Matt Zanetti's dad is growing some of the hops for your beer on his farm in Wisconsin... You get it. It's a family gig around here.

Friends. I'm very grateful for all the amazing friends I've made while teaching yoga in the Twin Cities for the past eight years. Most of that time I was teaching yoga and barre at the AMAZING studio Blooma. (If you don't know it- check it out!!) About once a month I invite one of my talented and generous friends to stop by and co-teach with me. These are classes you don't want to miss! Good times,  great playlists, and a few laughs are a sure thing!

Charity. Giving back is part of my yoga, and part of my heart, and my little way to help -- cuz we all need a little help sometimes.  EVERY person who shows up to class is helping a cause. The charities change by the season so check out the charity page for more info about who you're helping at this time. Let's make some f'ing positive change in the world.

Frequently Asked Questions:

So, I've never really stepped foot on a yoga mat before. The one time I did was an accident. Will I be able to keep up?

Yes, yes, yes! Without a doubt, you will be just fine. This class is designed for all levels and one of the beautiful things about yoga, especially a class in a brewery, is that we don't take ourselves too seriously.  It is completely up to you where you want to take your practice--there are modifications for everything! And ultimately, what better place to start than here?

I am an avid yogi and want a class that will getting me a-flowin'. What kind of vibe/style can I expect?

Happy-fun-kick-your-butt kind of vibes! I've taught yoga and barre classes for over six years and I LOVE to kick up the strength and get you working and sweating! But taking child's pose is always an option- see above! We will have some quiet, we will move and flow and get strong, we might rock out to some Michael Jackson, we will always have savasana, and I wall ALWAYS end on time. I teach a class where PJ pants are acceptable attire, you may take breaks to drink water or pee without judgement, laughing is allowed, and good music is a MUST. Above all I believe in choosing your own adventure. You know your body- kick it up when it feels right, take it down when you need to breathe.

I just found my yoga mat, but it was under my dog's food dish for a few months...can I borrow a mat from you?

I have a few rag-tag mats that are rolling around in my trunk that might be a slight improvement from the one under your dog dish - email me if you're in a tight spot : yogaandapint@gmail.com.

Can I drink my beer while I am bending my body like a pretzel?

While we love nothing more than the combination of beer and pretzels, we also love the idea of keeping you safe.  For (somewhat obvious) liability reasons, we give you your ticket to redeem your cold one at the beginning of class, which you can cash in once the practice is done. Or come back on another day with friends to enjoy your free beer!

 it tastes better afterwards, anyway.

What better way to finish a hot and sweaty yoga class than with a cold pint of beer? So says team Food Tripping, and so say the good folks at Lake Monster Brewing. The year-and-a-half-old brewery (a highlight of the Twin Cities' recent brewpub boom) hosts Yoga and a Pint  Saturday and Sunday mornings at 10:30 AM in their huge former warehouse space. Also, so people don't get super loopy from sweating followed by boozing, a different food truck pulls up after class each weekend to sling vittles . -- Zagat and Huffington Post #foodtripping     I LOVE LOVE YOGA and a PINT with Corrine (viv)! Seriously, one of the BEST things you can do for your heart and soul on the weekend. -- Sarah Longacre Ehlers, founder of Blooma        Not only is Corrine (viv) an incredible teacher but she is an all around class-act human being. These classes are orchestrated in a way where everyone is welcome, equal, capable and enough. She holds the space for seasoned yogi's to fresh beginners just the same, and everyone is left feeling better than when they walked in . -- Sarah Hrudka Behlke      Corrine (Viv) is an amazing instructor! She has such a good energy and brings a great spirit to the workout! Plus her Chex-Mix are the bomb dot com! The brewery is awesome as well! Family friendly, good vibes and great beer! Thanks for this awesome set up! -- Christina Archila      Perhaps I'm biased, as I know Corrine (Viv) personally, but I'm also a regular yogi and all I can say is that I LOVE VIV'S YOGA AND A PINT CLASSES! Apologies for the yelling, but it's warranted. I use this class as a super-fun and social way to round out my practice with a little more strength and core work, a little more swagger and a whole lot of lighthearted self care outside the bounds of my more "serious" sessions elsewhere. At Corrine's Yoga and a Pint, I've made friends and really enjoyed the beautiful brewery space (inside and out). Pssst, a beer after an hour of yoga is a pretty fool-proof way to get your nirvana on before that pesky work-week rolls back around. Corrine (Viv) is a bit of a music addict, so her teaching is always set to diverse and energizing tunes. Plus, her bubbly personality (you won't believe she has 2 year-old twins at home, yet she rolls in every Sat/Sun ready to rock the house!) are everything you'll need to give your weekend an infusion of pure positivity. Oh, and did I mention you'll sweat? Because you will. This isn't slow-flow, calm/quiet classically "restorative" yoga. It's empowering and FUN full-body workout-type yoga. Viv's innovative sequences work important muscles you maybe never knew you had. You'll also laugh. A lot. That too, is good for your core when she's making you do that challenging but forever-effective side-step while planking thing. Sweat for an hour, then socialize. It's just that easy and that awesome. Hope to meet even more excellent folks there soon.    --Kate Rusciano Besinger
